I was tasked by my wife to find my toddler and newborn “white fluffy and cozy rugs” for their rooms that would match the “boucle chair” nursery aesthetic. After looking through all the usual websites - article, westelm, crate and barrel, room and board, restoration hardware, rove concepts…. I finally settled on nestig, forking over 750 per rug plus 180 per rug liner. It was not perfect but acceptable to my wife. And definitely over budget too. To my horror the shipping was 8-10 weeks which was a deal breaker. I renewed my search and chanced upon an ad for muscle mat. It didn’t sound like what I wanted but out of desperation and frustration from the other brands. I clicked into and saw the price (200!) and that it was 1 piece with a grippy bottom and the photos of babies playing and read a review calling this a “toddler magnet” and I immediately knew this was the product I was looking for all along. A quick link to my wife received a surprising 👍. “TBH this was exactly what I was looking for”. Bingo. Shipping was surprisingly fast. I was able to bring it up 3 flights of stairs by myself. I unrolled it and to my surprise and none of the toxic chemical smell, and the fuzz was so soft. Instructions said that it needed some steam to fluff up but mine didn’t require any. When my toddler saw it I told him this was his “new mat” and it immediately became his new favorite phrase. He twirled around and around, jumping and falling, making snow angels, rolling around, for probably 60 minutes straight. My only gripe about this rug is that I wished it was more square. I got the largest size and it’s more of a long rectangle meant for a long couch. But I want it to be the center of a nursery. All good, the pros far outweigh the cons. Probably wins the best purchase of the year for me. Bottom line - if you are looking for a nursery or toddler room rug, skip the usual brands and just get this.

Currently writing this review while sitting on my "rug"... I've had the shaggy 6½' x 10' Muscle Mat for going on two weeks now. The intent behind my purchase is that I'm a floor sitter by nature and if I'm not doing that, I'm standing out pacing. I didn't have kids and I didn't have pets. Initially I was wondering if it would be a regret buy (can you imagine how difficult it would be to return a rug?!). I can now safely say it was a purchase that immediately paid dividends. The cost is right on par with any traditional rug of its size and all the fit and finish is excellent, aided by the fact they have two US distribution centers. The couch in my picture has looked like that for about 2 weeks... I truly don't sit in it anymore. I've always been the type of person who preferred sitting on the floor, but I'd have to go back and forth between a chair and the rug because it would start to bother my lower back after a few hours. I can honestly say I've taken hour long naps on this thing! I use it several times a day, every day without fail. I've had two friends come over and try it and both constantly joke about wanting to come over just to sit on it (one has a spinal injury and spends a lot of time rehab'ing on the floor so it was great for her). For cleaning it, I use a stick style vacuum (think that popular vacuum manufacturer that starts with the letter D) and pass over it just fine on medium suction to get small debris out. Deep cleaning will be a bridge to cross further down the road, however... I can't imagine if you've made it to the point of reading reviews for such a niche product that you shouldn't just pull the trigger and buy it. Highly recommend it as a really satisfied customer!
Absolutely love our muscle mat! It got delivered so fast and I appreciated that it didn’t need any time to “inflate” and didn’t have any weird lines in it from being packaged so tightly.

Not only does this look amazing, but my 18 month old absolutely loves it. She’s in the stage of running, exploring, getting on and off the couch and diving to the ground. She’s purposely will do rolls onto the ground and then make what we call “carpet angels” because she loves how soft this mat is. My fear of her knocking her head on the floor is gone because this mat truly is made for active little ones. We love it!
I got the shag rug without high expectations; just hoping it was something that wasn't itchy or would collect dirt. Oh man was I surprised! Insta-love! It's soooo soft! The pad just lets me sink down into it while the shag top layer is silky. I forego the couch and sit on the floor. Already planning on buying another. Every person that comes into my house, I make them take off their shoes and walk across it and just watch their faces. My only complaint is the shag doesn't come in more colors!

We love the muscle Matt. We have the shaggy charcoal gray. It is the most comfy, softest Matt/rug! It’s a little more on the blue side of charcoal. My only issue is that when the pets(big Doberman) walk on the rug or even run across the rug, the rug has spots where there are pulls or sprouted.
Already had one rug in our living room that we love, but when we found out we couldn't easily carpet this basement room, we just winged it and bought 4 more of these to fill the space! It's lovely.
Hard to see in this photo, but it's been down for over a week and there is some folded sections that have not flattened out. I also hoped it would be a little better cushion, it's ok but I'm going to have to buy additional padding underneath for it to be safe enough for my kids to rough house on.

We absolutely love it. One of those purchases you don’t realize how much you need until you have it. Got it for our 6 month old who toppled forward and smacked his head on our hard floor, and also hated tummy time. It was an over night game changer. He start rolling every which way, gained so much core strength, and we all lay on it and play with him so much more now. Even grandmas and grandpa prefer the floor now when they come visit. I want one for every room in my house.

We bought 2 shag muscle mats and have quickly become a big fan! We have a 7 month old figuring out how to crawl and move around and these have been an absolute game changer! My only complaint are the lack of colors and sizes. Please give us more options we would purchase even MORE mats!
